Summary: Chapter 72 - Voice of My Soul Total Views: 4167 times.
Tina just stands there looking from Bettes eyes to the shining band Bette held between her fingers. Her eyes became teary as soon as she realized Bettes intentions. Tinas mind flashed back to Bettes first proposal. Their ride of love at first sight had always been wonderfully romantic with it culminating in the most romantic of proposals from Bette. Complete with violins and roses her first proposal had been like living in a story book but in the end they went down the path of taking each other for granted. There was something there that didnt last long enough because it was not nurtured. Here they are yet again and now the connection just feels so right. This connection between them was strong before but now it was so much more resilient having a brawn to it which gave Tina a feeling of strapping power and confidence. This Bette feels so familiar but different. Tina knew she was very much at home in this Bettes company. Bette was right when she says she has quit running from her feelings and has embraced them. This means that she wont leave her either physically or mentally ever again.
This time around she had a different goal in mind for what made the best marriage. She wanted to make their home a place of strength which they both could grow. She wanted to work hard side by side with Bette to create this home which includes love, respect, nurturing and honesty.
All these thoughts were crashing through Tinas mind creating a chaos that prevented her from responding to Bettes request immediately. Bette saw the tears and looking into the windows of Tinas soul she could see the flashing of emotions as they crossed Tinas mind.
Baby, T ? Bette gently said wanting to hear what all these emotions were. Bring Tina back to the present. T you know Im totally committed to you dont you?
Oh, Babe you just overwhelm me. Tina comes back to Bette with love shining in her eyes. Oh Bette, how could I refuse you, the love of my life especially now when Im surrounded by angels. Tina says as she looks from Bette up to the angel fountain with the lily in her hand.
Oh, Im no angel and you never need to look up to me. Bette says as she looks up to the angel above the spray of water and the coincidence of this fact causes her to chuckle. Well having things fall into place like this is a good indication that were on the right track dont you think?
Tina smiles and chuckles as the same thought hit her. Yes I will wear your ring. Yes! Babe, Yes! Tina repeats as she pulls Bette in to seal the promise with a kiss. Capturing Bettes lips, Tina makes the passion she feels at this moment known through the shear intensity of this kiss.
Breaking the kiss Tina whispers to Bette You know you inspire me. I want us to build a home which will become our rock from which we can conquer the world. I want to have that secure home and you my loving partner who helps me navigate through life. I want to be around to forever remind you of your greatness.
Bette understood completely the need in Tina that she was expressing. Tina, me too, I want you to push my buttons causing me to stretch and grow all the while you support me by helping me stay true to the voice of my soul.
Caught up once again in the endless possibilities that Bette brings, Tina continues: I want to challenge you and inspire you to advance. Together I want to push and pull each other and be the true soul mates which help each other navigate through life by making that commitment to stand by each other. Because Bette I would be nowhere if not standing right beside you. Tina says as now she truly believes that she and Bette are really on the same page. They are sharing the same values, speaking the same language and challenging each other to live their best lives.
Bette is just nodding her head as Tina goes on trying to let her finish but having a hard time not interrupting her as all these thoughts are jumping into her head. Oh Tina, I promise to give you love, guidance and my unwavering encouragement as we grow in ways that neither of us can imagine. Having finished this Bette pulls Tina into a tight embrace, Bette always was better at expressing herself in ways other than words. Taking Tinas lips in hers, Bette attacked with a passion inspired by the vision of the life they were promising to each other.
Rachael and Shane had started their winding tour of Central Park by first checking out the Dairy and then moseying down the Mall. They had split up from Dana and Alice in the hopes of enjoying some private moments. They had spent the time by actually talking. Rachael had a way of drawing Shane out like no one had ever done before. Because of this, Shane felt a freedom when talking to Rachael that allowed her to open up and be honest which was resulting in some of those well built walls around Shanes heart to start to tumble down. They both got a little hungry and ducked out of the park to a nice diner along 5th Avenue for a quick bite that turned into something longer as they both lost track of time. They talked about everything and nothing. Recounting stories of their youth and Shane sharing her version of what a family had or had not been. Both surprised at the truths the other could elicit from their souls. Finally noticing the waitress was staring at them with a look which could kill, Rachael suggested to Shane that they move along.
Hey youre right Shane says as she gets up and grabs the tab. Walking over to the cashier Shane smiles at her and gives her a ten to give to the waitress after they leave. Rachael walks up behind Shane Hey Shane get me one of those bags of M&Ms will you?
Sure which one you want the plain or peanuts? Shane asks and then just smirks as she already knew the answer.
As they exit the diner they head back into the park in the direction of the Bethesda Fountain. Finding a park bench along the path she sits down and pulls Rachael along side of her.
Oh I love this feeling of just meandering around. So what color do you want? Shane asks as she opens the bag.
Well I always heard the green ones will make you pregnant so I dont want one of those. Rachael
Really, so what do the red ones mean? Shane asks.
Oh the red ones are for passion you know fiery red. Rachael answers by whispering in Shanes ear.
Then what are the blue ones? Shane now is smiling as she asks.
OK now you got me. You know that age thing. They didnt have blue ones back in my day so what would you like them to mean? Rachael comes back to Shane.
Oh, I dont know, could they be the pearls of wisdom you bring to me? Shane comes back with as she looks into Rachaels eyes and lets Rachael look into hers.
Shane begins to feel a vibration in her pocket and for a moment is at a loss. Oh yeah my cell. Not breaking her eyes from Rachael, Shane pulls out her phone and flips it open.
Yeah
Hey where are you guys? What have you been doing? Did you see anyone famous? Have you gotten anything to eat? What time do you want to leave? We were thinking about heading out of here and getting ready to go out tonight. Alice could be heard by anyone passing by.
Rachael just shakes her head and laughs as Shane considers which answer to produce first. We are heading towards that fountain do you want to meet us there? Finally making up her mind by deciding on not answering any more than necessary.
Great see you in a few Alice would have said more but she realized that Shane had already hung up on her.
They are going to meet us by the fountain do you know where that is? Alice asked.
Dana pulls out her little guide book she had bought. She had spent the entire afternoon filling Alice in on the little known historical facts about the park and the surrounding area. By this time Alice had enough of trivial pursuit factoids like the memorial to Balto, lead dog of the team of huskies that made a heroic journey across Alaska to deliver serum for some epidemic or how the park consists of 843 acres or even the to date 172 movies have been filmed in Central Park.
