They just held each other, nothing else. Nothing else was needed at that moment. Lara kept her promise, eventually, and washed Danas back as Dana did for Lara. The water finally began to turn cool and it signaled them that it was time to leave this safe place, Danas home and face the world that they had successfully shut out. They finished getting ready without saying anything, just a glance here and a look there.
On the drive to pickup Alice, Lara intertwined her fingers with Danas. She would gently squeeze Danas hand when she could tell that she was getting a little more nervous, which was becoming a lot more often now that they were nearing Alices apartment.
As they pulled up to Alices, Lara looked over to Dana to ask her one more time, Are you sure you want me to be there. I dont want to be the cause of any more anxiety for you. You will have Alice there and she is a great friend.
No, I want you to be there. I need all of the support I can get. Dana finally smiled And if they dont spit in my face, I want to be able to introduce them to the woman who makes me happy. She stared into Laras eyes, leaned in for a small token from Laras lips.

As they got closer to the Royal Crowne Plaza, Lara decided to let Dana and Alice know where she would be in case they needed her. I was thinking that I would go sit in the bar and wait for you guys. Your parents know Alice and to walk up with a strange woman might make things a little uncomfortable.

No Dana, you need Alice, someone familiar to your parents, beside you when you tell them. I will be right there if you need me. Lara grabbed Danas hand and kissed her palm.

Alright. If you two think it best, I will go along with it. But Dana was trying to think of a way to be in the same room as Lara when she told her parents her big news.
The SUV stopped in front of the hotel, but before they got out, Lara gave Danas hand a reassuring squeeze and smiled. Dana knew what Laras actions were conveying and no words were needed, just a smile between both women. Finally, they all get out of the SUV and walked into the hotel, Dana and Alice first and Lara a few feet behind. Lara watched as Dana gave her mother a hug, as did Alice. She longed to have that happen to her, but she never knew if it would. As the three women walked into the banquet hall and disappeared, Lara saw a young man, she assumed that it was Danas brother that she had heard about, flash something to Dana and Alice.
