Tina arrived at Bette's at 7 sharp, knocking on the door. Bette answers the door with her trademark smile and ushers Tina in, placing a light kiss on her cheek.
"Your just in time to help me bring these bags to the car, oh and the cooler to. That is if you don't mind?"
"Not at all, are you ready to go?"
"Yep, we just need to put everything in the car and then we can leave."
"Where are you planning on taking me tonight?"
"I thought a nice evening picnic by moonlight might be nice."
"It sounds romantic. Let's get going, the sooner the better."
They drove in Bette's car, enjoying light conversation discussing their day and how funny it must have been to seen Dana drunk. Bette pulls up to a quiet area of the beach and they off load the car. Tina follows Bette to a secluded area, where they lay a blanket and lay back to enjoy the last of the sun.
Bette starts to take things out of the bags, for their evening. First the wine with two glasses, cheese and crackers, lots of fruit, including strawberries etc. Then she removes several lanterns like, tea candle holders for added light. Pouring the wine and handing a glass to Tina and toasting "To us!"
"To us" Tina replies, as they clink glasses and share a meaning full glance.
"Well you seem to be prepared. Must have been your girl scout training."
"No girl scouts for me, wasn't my cup of tea. Besides my parents didn't have time to be running me around. They were both very career driven."
"So is that where you get it from?" ask Tina.
"I hope I am not as career driven as them but yes I do like to be the best when it comes to most of my endeavours."
"Your parent must be very proud of you Bette."
"Well, my mom passed away when I was 12 and I haven't spoken to my father since I came out of the closet. Let's say he wasn't to approving."
"I'm sorry Bette, it must've been hard losing your mom at such an age and than your father not supporting your lifestyle. Does your father live here in L.A?"
"Thanks Tina, no my father is in Philly, where I was raised. I can tell you that Kitt was very supportive, which helped me to get over my father’s disappointment."
"Kitt is an amazing woman, kind and caring and to think of the demons she has had to overcome and still come out smiling."
"Ya, it wasn't easy for her but your right she is amazing. Hey, how about your family?"
"Not much to tell, haven't seen much of them since I left Carolina to go to New York. I phoned them to let them know I was moving to L.A, which is apparently sin central if you ask them."
"I thought I heard a slight southern accent. Do they know about your being bi sexual?"
"Well I did tell them I was Bi but I belief they are in denial. I haven't help in the matter as I have only ever brought home guys. They haven't really commented. Of course at first they said it was just a phase, maybe they still think that. Don't know and don't really care."
"Not much we can do if they refuse to see the truth for what it is."
Tina lay back looking into the night sky, enjoying the peace and quiet. Bette lay back as well but she was looking at Tina.
"What are you thinking?
