Bette stirred in her sleep. She could feel Tina’s lips on her own, but she was so sluggish she couldn’t open her eyes.
“Hey babe,” Tina whispered in the still of the room. It was early morning and Tina had already been up, jogged, had coffee and breakfast, taken a shower and dressed for the day. She needed to hit the highway in order to make it to West Side Academy in time for the first bell and her planning period.
But Bette was slow to awaken as she and Tina had spent the rest of the previous evening talking, laughing and making love into the late night, early morning. She had been so satisfied and satiated with the sex and her body filled with not only Tina’s delicious cooking, but also the care and tenderness Tina had shown her that she had sank into the deepest, non-drug induced sleep she had ever experienced in her adult life.
“You leaving?” Bette mumbled with her eyes still shut.
“Yeah, I left you some breakfast and a key so you can lock up when you let yourself out, okay?” Tina stroked the messy brown hair tangled and spilling over the pillow.
“Okay. Miss you…” Bette muttered back and hugged the pillow drifting back into a serene sleep.
“Here’s your phone by the bed. I’ll call you in an hour and make sure you’re up or you’ll be late for work,” Tina said and watched as Bette took a deep breath that indicated she had already drifted off again.
Tina leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. “Okay, my love, dream well,” and Tina was off to work.

“Fuck…” Bette grumbled as she reached for her vibrating phone. She didn’t bother to open her eyes, didn’t realize she wasn’t even in her own bed.
“This is Bette,” she said into the receiver.
“Good morning, sleepy. Are you up?” Tina’s voice sang through the receiver.
“Huh?” Bette opened her eyes and realized where she was. “Oh, hey sweetheart. What time is it?”
“It’s nine. What time do you need to be at work?” Tina asked.
“Shit! My first class is at 10:30. I’m glad you called or I’d still be sleeping,” Bette yawned and scratched herself looking around the room for her clothes.
“I thought as much. You were out cold when I left. Hey, make sure to eat your breakfast before you leave,” Tina said.
“Okay, I will…um, hey…where’s my clothes?” Bette started walking around the bed and then down the hall.
