Chapter 17

Tina and Spencer were going on one of their daily jogs when Tina’s phone started to ring. She stopped running and pulled it out of her jog bra and answered it with out looking at the caller I.d.!

“Tina Kennard’s phone.”

“Hey Tk, it’s Al.”

“Hey Alice. So quick. I didn’t expect to hear from you for a while. Not that I’m not happy.”

“Uh huh. Uh Tina, we’ve got bigger fish to fry!”

“Alice, there are always bigger fish with you. What’s the problem. God this feels amazing. Did something happen between you and Dana, gosh I can’t believe you two are together. I always sa-”

“Tina BETTE KNOWS!”

“Whut uh. How?”

“I guess Ashley had slipped almost, and Bette started to go in a take all her stuff until she told her, and she told her. Tina she’s not a bad kid, and she usually keeps her promises, but you know how Bette is. Don’t think any less of her for this.”

“Alice. I won’t. She’s only a kid, but FUCK!”

“Yah, well she’s barricaded herself in her room and won’t come out.”

“Are you serious?”

“Very. Ashley had to pick the lock just so we could talk to her earlier.”

“Al, why are you telling me this? What do you want me to do?”

“Tina I realize that you may not be ready to see her, but Bette has a history, and I don’t want her to go back to that place.”

“You want me to come see her?”

“Tina I think it’s time to close this gap. At least give her some closure.”

“Uh Al, I don’t know. I mean I just, I don’t…”

“TIna. Please if you ever loved Bette just do this. She tried to kill herself you know. I can’t go through that again.”

“She what?”

“The night you left, she tried to drown herself.”

“Do what?! Oh my gosh. I’m on my way.”

Against Tina’s better judgment something in her went into safety mode. Into Bette and Tina mode. Nothing else, but Bette mattered in that moment. She took off running in the other direction with such intense speed that Spencer was left to catch up with her. After arriving to the house she didn’t even bother taking a shower she just threw on a pair of jog pants and got another shirt on.

“Spence, you can come with me or you can stay here.
