“That divorce was needed. We weren’t a couple anymore; we were strangers living under the same roof. I needed to go on with my life. I just didn’t know I might go on without my daughters.” “I need them too,” said Jody. “For what? You never wanted children. And you barely have time for them. Katie told me you brought women to the house every night they are there,” said Bette wanting to discuss the subject. “Katie told you that?” Jody asked and Bette nodded,” And so what does it matter? Are you jealous?” “No, of course I’m not jealous! I gave you the divorce. I just don’t want my daughters to be a part of that behavior. You do that when they are not there, “said Bette very angry. “Look, listen Bette. Everyone has their need. Why should I give something up, because you don’t like it?” Jody asked Bette also getting angry; Bette chuckled. “I’m not the only one who doesn’t like it, Katie also doesn’t like it. And it’s bad example Jody! You can’t just come every night with another woman home!” “Well, I don’t know what to tell you Bette. Because I don’t think that’s a bad thing to do,” said Jody trying to defend herself. “Look Jody, just please don’t do it again. I’m asking you please. And let Katie and Amy sleep now, tomorrow you can come pick them up. Okay?” said Bette tired of fighting with Jody. “Fine, Fine,” said Jody walking out of the condo. Bette sighed and said to herself:”Why did I marry that woman?” After turning all the lights in the condo off, Bette went to bed.The next day Bette was up and early to make the girls breakfast before Jody came by to pick them up. Katie woke up because of the smell of breakfast and then she went over to Amy to wake her up. Both quickly went into the kitchen and sat on the stool at the bar. “Good morning Ladies,” said Bette making omelets for the girls. “Good morning mommy,” said both Katie and Amy. “Your mother is going to be here soon,” said Bette giving them their omelets. “When is she coming by?” Katie asked Bette. “I don’t know, but I imagine that she’ll be here before noon.” “Can’t we stay here?” Amy asked her mother. Bette walked behind the bar and gave both a kiss on their foreheads. “Sweetie, I wish you could both stay here with me. But your mom and I made an agreement remember?” Bette told the girls. “Fine, you’re right,” said Katie returning to her breakfast. After a couple of minutes Alice and Shane came into the kitchen.
