” “We want to stay with you,” said Katie looking down. “Sweetie, I want my two daughters with me no matter what. But mom wants you too,” said Bette taking Katie’s hands. “But we want to be with you,” said Katie looking at Bette. “It’s not up to me baby. It’s up to the court. Why don’t you want to stay with your mom?” “She,” Katie started but stopped. “What sweetie, you have to tell me.” Katie looked up at her and said:”She comes home every night with another girl.” Bette couldn’t believe that Jody would do that when her daughters were home with her. Jody was supposed to be a mother to their daughters. Bette knew that when Jody came to pick up their daughters she would have to confront her. After a few hours of playing in the park with the girls Bette decided to head back home. When they got home the girls went to play in their rooms, while Bette took care of some business. After that Bette went to prepare dinner for Katie, Amy and herself. At 6 o’clock Bette called the girls to dinner. After dinner Bette put the girls to bed and went back to clean the dishes. “No, no. Miss Porter let me do it, you already prepared a nice dinner for the girls let me clean up,” said Maria coming in the kitchen. “No, no Maria. I made dinner then I will clean up. Besides I don’t mind. You go home to your children. Say hi to them for me,” said Bette continuing to clean the kitchen. After a while someone knocked on her condo door. She went to see who it was, when she opened the door it was Jody. Jody didn’t even let Bette greet her as she came in the condo.
“Nice to see you too,” said Bette before closing the door. “Where are Katie and Amy?” Jody asked Bette standing in the living room. “Well they are asleep, just like any kids at this hour.” “Well, I’m taking them home,” said Jody walking to the girl’s bedroom. “No, you’re not. They’re staying here for the night,” said Bette grabbing Jody’s arm stopping her. “I don’t care. The week is my time with them,” said Jody pulling her arm away from Jody. “Yeah, if you wanted time with them you wouldn’t have sent them here to me this morning.” “I was in a hurry and didn’t have anybody to take care of them,” said Jody looking around the room. “You talk like they are dogs you’re trying to take care off. They’re your children,” said Bette getting pissed. Jody didn’t hear what Bette was saying and kept looking at Bette’s new painting. “This is nice; I don’t think I have seen this yet.” “That’s because I just bought it,” said Bette getting more pissed because Jody didn’t even care. “You don’t seem to miss anything in this world. You already have everything.” “Not everything. I don’t have my children all the time with me,” said Bette pissed. “That’s not my fault, we made that agreement. It’s not me who asked for the divorce,” said Jody coming to face Bette.
