“Well, anyway. I have Joyce don’t I. Joyce is like the best attorney in the City,” said Bette picking her newspaper again.
“Well, I heard from one of my clients that Jody has a pretty good attorney too,” said Shane before drinking her coffee. “Yeah that’s what I heard too Bette,” said Alice looking from Bette to Shane.
“What are you guys talking about? I thought she had that Stanley guy,” said Bette looking afraid.
“Well, Jody fired him and hired Christina Kennard as her lawyer.”
“What?!” Bette screamed getting of her chair and started pacing around.
“Bette calm down, she’s probably not that good,” said Shane trying to calm Bette down.
“Not that good? She’s probably the best, Joyce told me herself. Joyce is glad that she didn’t have to go against Kennard.”
“Oh god,” said Shane. “Look, I’m going to do my best to find something on Jody. Okay?” Alice said before she walked out of the condo. “Jody Lerner you can’t hide from me,” said Alice stepping out of the building.
Inside Bette and Shane went back to the table and began eating their breakfast. After some chit chat Shane left to take care of some business. Bette stayed and decided where she would set the painting. After an hour she heard a knock. “Maria, would you get that?” Bette called out. After a while she heard Katie and Amy running up to her. Bette had the biggest smile on her face.
“Mommy!” Amy yelled coming up to Bette. Bette grabbed her and pulled her up.
“Hey, sweetie.”
“Hey, mom,” 7 year old Katie greeted her mother with a kiss and hug while Amy was still in Bette’s arms.
“What are you two doing here?” Bette asked them both.
“You’re not happy we are here?” Little Amy asked her mother putting a sad face.
“Oh, of course I’m happy to see you two. Did your mother just drop you off?” Bette asked the girls walking them to their room. “Yes, momma dropped us off. She told us to come up to you. She said she had stuff to do today and didn’t want us to bother her,” said Katie going into her room with Bette behind her,” I’m sorry we’re bothering you mommy.” Bette put Amy to sit next to Katie on the bed.
“Sweeties, you would never bother me. I would give up everything to just be with the 2 of you. You hear me?”Bette told the girls and they nodded with big smiles on their faces.
“Now, what do you two want to do today?” Bette asked her daughters. Bette looked at her daughters thinking about what they wanted to do.
