Chapter 8: King High: Bette got to school an hour after Papi had called. She was sitting on the benches were they usually hanged out, when she saw Tina walk up. “What are you doing here so early?” asked Tina. “Papi called me,” said Bette looking anywhere but at Tina. “Okay,” Tina said sitting on the bench away from Bette. After a while Bette and Tina saw Shane, Papi, Alice and Dana walking up to them. “Hey, what’s going on?” Bette greeted them. Papi nodded at Alice. “Hey, baby. The girls and I have to talk privately. Can you go keep Tina company?” Alice asked Dana. Dana nodded and walked up to Tina. They went to another bench up ahead and Papi started telling Bette and Alice what had happened.
“Oh man, what are you going to do?” Bette asked Shane. “Well, that’s why she wanted to talk to us,” answered Papi. Bette and Alice sighed. “I think you should tell Carmen,” said Bette truthfully. “Yeah, I agree with Bette. But I can guaranty you that her reaction will not be pleasing,” said Alice. “That’s something that you might want to think about. Do you want to lose her?” asked Papi. Bette, Alice and Papi kept looking at Shane. “I don’t want to lose her, I love her. But I have to tell her what I did,” said Shane putting her head in her hands. Bette patted Shane’s back and told her:” Than tell her the truth. You’ll be a better person for it.” Shane smiled at Bette and went on her way. “I hope everything works out for her and Carmen,” said Alice. Bette nodded and Papi said: “Me too.”
Lunch Break: Bette and Tina were sitting away from each other and trying to avoid each as much as they could; Papi noticed this and decided to speak to Bette about it. “What are you two doing?” Papi asked Bette pointing at Tina and her. “What do you mean?” asked Bette acting like she doesn’t know what Papi means. “You know exactly what I mean. Why are you two avoiding each other?” “Because I’m tired of fighting with her,” said Bette after a sigh. “That was 13 days ago, come on.” “Actually, we talked yesterday at the party. And we fought again.” “Omg, why don’t you just go over there make out with her and forgot everything you’ve done to each other.” “Look, I’m tired of fighting with her. I’m just done. She doesn’t want me, so that’s it,” said Bette walking away. Papi decided to go speak with Tina. “Why did you fight with Bette last night?
