” Bette asked in a whisper, tears streaming down her face, “Why did you hurt Kit?”
“Kit Jamison was just in the way. We worked together as Dean Lerner’s assistants. She suspected what I had been up to and when I brought Nikki back to my estate one day, she followed me. She left me no choice, I couldn’t risk anyone exposing my ‘ice-cream’ operation here, could I? Kit was a kill of convenience; that is not to say I didn’t enjoy the process,” Adele let out an evil laugh that bounced off the walls of the room.
“There was no blood,” Bette said, “No blood spill, how?”
“Oh oh oh!” Adele jumped up and down excitedly, clapping her hands together, “That was the most brilliant part of my process. Oh, I feel like Willy Wonka sharing his chocolate secrets.”
“I left them inside this freezer for a couple of days, oh, but not freezing them completely, no no. That would have made them a block of ice, what fun would that be. You could say I learned the skills from my father, with all the knowledge I had of freezing ice-cream, have you never wondered why even though ice-cream is frozen, it’s not like a block of solid ice when you eat it? I’ll tell you.”
Adele walked up to Bette and whispered into her ear, “Milk and cream.”
Adele jumped back, laughing hysterically.
“Milk and cream?” Bette asked.
“I left them in this freezer to chill and as their body slowly started to lose mobility and their blood froze, I injected their veins with milk and cream. But not all at once of course, it was a tedious process, one I am so very proud of.”
Adele skipped happily around the table, “Since they were like toys to the Dean, I just thought I’d add my finishing touch of white paint and pink ribbons, they looked so much nice, don’t you think? It was so fun slicing off their heads, they were brainless afterall. And now, I’m going to have some fun with you.”
She walked over and squeezed Bette’s arm, “I fast-forwarded the process for you, I knew we couldn’t wait too long, someone would notice you missing sooner or later. You’re freezing up, Bette.”
Adele walked over to her table of equipment and filled a string with a milky white substance, “Time for your injection, it won’t hurt, I promise.”
Bette struggled as much as she could, “Please, Adele, don’t do this, you can still turn yourself in, you can still save yourself.”
“It’s too late for that now,” Adele said, moving the string closer to Bette’s arm.
And suddenly, a gun shot echoed through the large room and Adele fell to the floor.
Gen ran over and using Bette’s handcuffs, quickly cuffed Adele.
“Bette!” Gen called out, taking off her coat simultaneously to wrap it around Bette’s shoulders. She quickly untied Bette and covered her up, holding her close and rubbing her arms to give her some warmth. Bette rested her head on Gen’s shoulder as Gen carried her up off the table top.
“Is she dead?” Bette managed.
“No, I didn’t kill her, just shot her leg. I used your gun, though,” Gen said, looking at Bette, “Adele left your gun, cuffs and badge on your clothes. I already called Helena for back-up , they should be on the way down.”
Bette hugged Gen’s tighter, her eyes felt heavy, she closed them, breathing in Gen’s scent and allowing the familiar warmth of Gen's embrace engulf her, “I knew you would come for me,” she said.

A couple of minutes later, the ambulance and police cars arrived on the scene.
“I found blood on a large metal blade in the factory,” Dana said to Shane and Helena, who were standing outside.
“We’ve search the premises, the other victim’s clothes were in the house, together with some of their belongings,” Cadence reported.
Adele was wheeled out to a ambulance, her hands were cuffed. She still struggled as Tasha and Lara tried to keep her still.
Despite the commotion, Gen stood by Bette’s side as the paramedics wrapped her in a thick woolen blanket and put her on a drip.
Bette held on to Gen’s hand, not willing to let go. Gen bent over and dropped a kiss on Bette’s forehead. “We’ve got to load her up and bring her to the hospital,” the paramedic said to Gen.
Bette looked at Gen, “Please don’t leave me alone with them.
