” Kit hangs up as she has it in her head to get this done.
Bette hears the dial tone and pulls the phone away from her ear and looks at it. “This is fucking ridicules, Tina will never go away for a long weekend with me!”
After pacing for a minute or two and clinching her hands with intertwined fingers, she picks up her phone and dials Tina’s office.
“Tina Kennard.”
“Hey Tina. I know I said that I would wait for your call but, ... I, well ... Kit and I have something we would like to talk to you, Shane and Alice about and we wondered if you would come by the Planet tonight?”
“I don’t know Bette, is it really important?” Tina’s voice has a bit of a whine to it just now.
“If it weren’t somewhat important, I wouldn’t have called.” Bette’s trying to mask her upset with Tina.
“OK, fine. What Time?”
“Is 7:00 ok?”
“Yeah, I’ll see you all then.” Again, Bette hears the dial tone. “What is up with everybody just fucking hanging up?”
Kit has a table ready for the girls when they arrive. Alice and Shane are the first to make it to the Planet and they sit at the table as directed by Kit who offers to get them a drink.
“So Kit, what’s this all about? What’s going on that we all need to be here. Is Tina going to be here too?”
“Jesus Al, give Kit a chance to explain.” Shane gives Alice a nudge with her elbow.
“When everybody arrives, we will tell you. And, yes, Tina was invited. I am not sure if she is coming though.
Kit no sooner got the words out of her mouth and Tina walked through the door.
“Hey hot momma, you got a date later or what. Do you dress this sexy everyday for work?’
Tina was in a very tight pair of jeans and a v-neck lightweight sweater that allowed anyone who looked her way to enjoy a great view of her cleavage.
“So what is this all about? Nothing like the Mistress of Ceremonies to be late!” As Tina notices that Bette has not yet arrived.
“Mistress, you gotta’ love that. Kind of like Mistress Evangeline in that dominatrix movie. You guys know the one I’m talking about.” Alice looks around the table for nods of agreement, but, she was met with stares. “Don’t tell me the I am the only who has seen that move? Well, you all need to see it!” Alice throws up her hands in exasperation.
“I’m sure Bette will be here soon.” Kit looks nervous as she says that.
Small talk ensues and before long Bette arrives at the Planet.
“Hey guys, sorry I’m late.”
