She pulled back the sheet and laid down clutching the pillow that usually lay on the other side. She turns to face the empty side of her bed and tears again begin to fall. Her feelings are so mixed. Her thoughts conflicted. To herself she asks the question. “What do I want? Do I know?” In the dark recesses of her subconscious mind, does she know what she really wants. Tina’s exhaustion overtakes her and she falls to sleep easily, still clutching the pillow.

Bette again walks into her quiet, still home. The blinking light on her phone tells her she has messages: Beep ......
“Bette, girl, we gotta talk about Louisiana. Call me!”
Beep ......
“Hey Bette, it’s Al. So what are you doing tonight. I notice that you are not at home and neither you or Tina came by the Planet. So does that mean you are together? Well, if you are ..... wait, are you screening your calls? Is Tina at your house? I’ll be waiting to hear all about it. Talk to you later.”
Bette could not help but smile at the rambling message from her friend. She was surprised that she had not called Tina’s to see if she could catch them there.
Bette went to her bedroom and sat on the edge of her bed. Her thoughts were running rampant with no real sense of order. She would have one thought and before she could assimilate it, another would take it’s place. There was no continuity to her thoughts. They were like flashes. Bits of her past, her present and what her future might be. It took a while to calm her mind and her sleep was interrupted several times, awakened by dreams. She didn’t always remember the full content of the dream, she just saw one face. One recognizable face.
