Love and Affection Chapter 14
Tina’s work:
Tina sat at her desk digging and typing away at emails that were piled up from the weekend. She thought to herself ‘Why did I have to be so successful at this shit? It’s easy to make movies, a monkey can do it, but these idiots can’t!’ Tina hated being the bureaucrat all the bullshit of Hollywood and making sure tom dick and harry got paid. She did like the power it gave her over men. Especially the ones that she would take away their job opportunity due to her experience and expertise to understand what studios and directors wanted for their movie. Tina did miss directing movies and being more part of the shoot process. Dana and her had some good times in college making their little indie movies, she had a good time being so inspired by making movies and the content that is needed to make it a grand gesture to the audience, making what pulls people to watch.
At lunch, Tina had a meeting with a group of power lesbian women about a new lesbian show that they wanted to pilot about women in WeHo and how they are successful lesbians and circling around their lives as friends and enemies. Tina thought it would be a great hit and that it would worth putting some ideas for a script and get it moving. Just as she thought she would be drowning in a load of paperwork, her cell goes off. Tina knew by the ringtone that it was Bette.
“Baby, hey…ugh I am so tired…work is killing me!” Tina smiled into the phone glad to hear that Bette was calling her. “Tina, me too…I cannot believe how much people don’t understand that a art show is just about putting up paintings or sculptures and people will just buy them….” Bette sighed into the phone..smiling too just hearing Tina’s lifted her spirits up a bit. “You free after work? I can order food..Chinese right?” Bette was hoping to see Tina, she needed her to just hold her tonight and may be a nice massage. Bette grinned..and didn’t hear Tina’s reply..”Babe! You daydreaming over there?” Tina spoke a little louder to get Bette’s attention. “Yea…erm, huh..yea sure, what did you want?” Tina laughed, “I said yes, dinner sounds great and an early night. Don’t forget chow mein chicken! I need it for my training. Are you gonna do the tri with me or what?” Tina really wanted Bette to ante up her game with training and work with her to do well on her first triathlon. Bette was unsure due to her mean streak of always winning would come out. Bette groaned…”Fine! I will do it, but don’t get pissed if I get all mean and beat your ass!” Tina laughed at how Bette was getting so defensive and liked the pressure of competition already. “hmm could be fun Bette..me chasing your ass! Hah! I love it babe, love it. Love you..miss you..want you..need you..” Tina purred in the phone.
