Previously - As Tina sat and watched her children who she saw so much of Bette in play on the floor the phone went. She got up and walked to the phone, she picked up,
“Hello”
“Tee… Help Me. No.” With that the phone went dead.
*Chapter 3*
Tina’s heart stopped beating when she heard the voice at the end of the phone say “Tee.” Tina hadn’t heard that voice in eight months.
The whole world stopped and time seemed to slow down. “Help Me,” the desperation in the woman’s voice.
Tina wanted to help the woman, bring her back. Tina didn’t know if it was Bette she hoped that it was, if she was alive and that was her then Tina WOULD get her back. Tina registered the woman’s words and then heard the “No.”
The voice had changed; it was no longer the soft voiced woman, but a hard voiced man. -Tina cursed as the line went dead.
“FFFFFFUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKK.”
Tina dropped to her knees and cried.
All the emotion that she had been holding inside for the past eight months came out, her whole body was shaking.
It had been Bette, she knew it, her body was reaction to the voice that had guided her through all the hard time and the voice that had declared her love her everyday. Bette was alive and Tina had no idea where she was or how to help her. Tina didn’t know how to get Bette back.
Tina was brought out of her cries by four soft hands cupping her face. Her children, her little bit of Bette. Tina looked up at her little angels. Angelica had tears in her eyes, her hands cupping Tina’s eyes, trying to stem her mothers tears. Lucas was stood behind Angelica, standing straight up, tall, in the same manner that Bette used to stand when she was trying to hide her feeling. But like Bette, the little boys eyes gave away everything that he was feeling. One hand was placed on Tina’s shoulder and the other underneath her chin. His eyes showed the pain that he felt at his mother pain. His lips turned up at the edges, trying to produce a smile for his mother, he only managed to get half way there before his lips dropped and tears streamed down his cheeks. Tina looked at her to children and took a deep breath.
She picked up the phone that she had dropped beside her and turned it off.
She turned to Lucas “Baby, take Angelica and get stuff for both of you, where going to Aunt Kits then, where going to find something very important and bring it home.”
“Okay Mommy.” Lucas said as she held his sisters hand. “Love you.” He said as he walked away. - Tina looked down at the phone, pleased that she was given children that never questioned what she asked. As she was looking down at the phone she heard little footsteps running back towards her. It was Angelica. She ran round to her mother and stopped in front of her.
“Don’t have sad eyes Mommy. Me and Lucas be in the other room if you need us, Kay. Angelica Porter – Kennard Loves her Mommy lots.” With that the little girl walked back to her brother.
Tina smiled at the intuitiveness of her little girl. She stood up and walked to the counter. She sat down on her stool and reached for her paper and pen. She hit the return call button and wrote the number down. 07525297773. A British Cell phone number. She put the phone down and ripped of the number. She then got 20 small note papers and rewrote the number again; she walked over to the fridge and wrote it on the white board, there was no way she was losing her connection to Bette.
