Dana grabbed her gear and headed down to the club and Alice grabbed her phone and dialed Helena’s number.
“Hello.”
“Hey Helena it’s Alice.”
“How are you Alice?”
“I’m okay, and you?’
“Okay.”
“Helena are you doing anything this weekend?”
“Alice don’t you think this is unprofessional?”
“Excuse me?”
“You are my supervisor and you are asking me you, not to mention you are with Dana.”
“I’m flattered that you think I’m asking you out and all Helena but this is about work?”
“Oh my I’m so sorry, I was out of line.”
“Eh don’t sweat the small stuff.”
“What about work?”
“The magazine had been asked to follow Dana around this weekend and then do a story on her. They wanted me to do it but both John and I agreed it was conflict of interest, so I’m picking you.”
“This is like the magazines biggest story and you want me to do it?”
“Of course why wouldn’t I?”
“Because I don’t usually do sports it’s not my cup of tea.”
“You’ll be fine, besides I’ll be supervising.”
“I don’t know Alice.”
“Helena I’m asking you because I trust you more than any one else on staff please do this story.”
“Okay if you really want to me to.”
“I do.”
“Well okay.’
“Can you meet me at a place called The Planet so you can meet Dana?”
“Yea when?”
“Tomorrow say 11:30?”
“That’s fine.”
“Okay see you then.”
“Thank you Helena this means a lot to me.”
“You’re welcome, bye.”
“Bye.”
Alice hung up the phone, went into the kitchen got a bottle of water and went into her room. She lay on her bed and stared at the ceiling.
“What should I do?”
Alice realized she was talking to herself but this was the only way she was going to figure out what to do.
“If I don’t go Dana might be mad at me, if I do go she might get mad at me to. But this is Dana I can’t really see her getting mad at me for wanting to be there, she hasn’t before in the past, which brings up the point that I’ve been at practically everyone of her matches since I’ve known her. But her mom is getting all bitchy about the whole ticket thing, and god forbids I piss Sharon Fairbanks. If I stay home the distant may hurt us too. This is her biggest match and if it were me she would be there.’
All the signs seemed to be pointing to Alice going
“I guess I should figure out what I should pack.”
Alice turned on the news; it was about 20 minuets before she had fallen asleep. Dana came home around 9pm; she heard Alice’s TV on and peeked in the room. She saw Alice was asleep, crept in and turned of the TV and gave Alice a quick peck on the cheek. She went into the kitchen and took and bottle of water out of the frig and sat down at the table. She drank her water and decided on a shower.
