Dana had woken up very early the next morning, she really had to train hard she had her biggest match coming up on Saturday, depended on wither she was going to make it big or not. She slipped out of bed and threw on some clothes and headed down to the club. Her trainer was already there.
“You ready to get down and dirty Fairbanks?”
“You know it.”
“We really have to work hard this week to get you ready.”
“I know.”
“This is your big chance you understand that right.”
“Of course I do.”
“If you win the Subaru deal will seem like nothing compared to what you could be offered.”
Dana’s eyes lit up.
“Now let’s get going.”
Alice woke up and saw that Dana had left already; she figured that it would be like this most of the week. She really wasn’t looking forward to this match. It’s not that she didn’t want Dana to win or anything, she just didn’t want to spend three days away from her. To many it may not see like a long time but things between them had been great lately and she wondered how this little break would affect them. She got out of bed, showered, and headed for work. When Alice got to work there was a post it note on her desk telling her to see John right away.
“I wonder what he could want.”
Alice walked down the hallway to John’s office. She was a bit nervous, she and John had a pretty straight forward relationship he only talked to her if something was wrong. She knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
“Good Morning John.”
“Alice dear come in and please sit down.”
“Thank you.”
“Now Alice as you know I don’t bother you unless something is wrong.”
“Look John I can fix whatever is wrong I swear just tell me and I’ll fix it.”
“Alice calm down. Something was brought to my attention and I thought you need to know.”
“Ah okays, what it is.”
“I wanted to thank you.”
“For?”
“Since you have been back sales have gone up 15 percent.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“I didn’t really think I was making that big of a difference.”
“But you are and I thank you greatly.”
“Your welcome.”
Now there is something else I wish to discuss with you.”
John took a deep breath
“The president of the magazine wants us to do a story about Dana. He told me to pick my best writer and have her follow Dana around this weekend at her match. I immediately thought of you but then that would be a conflict of interest. So I’m letting it up to you to choose a writer. I am however going to let you supervise. This is an important story for both Dana and the Magazine, both of which are important to you, so make your choice carefully. Now do you have any writers in mind?”
‘Well I do, but I mean does Dana know about this.”
“They are telling her today.”
“Okay, well can I have a day to talk it over her with, because I want her to comfortable.”
“That will be fine but I need to know but this time tomorrow.
