“You must be Shane” she grinned.
Long brown hair dyed a thin layer of blonde and warm hazel eyes was made to match her angular face with high cheek bones.
“I’m Dani” she said.
“Alex’s girlfriend” I nodded,
“Of 2 years” she announced proudly.
I smiled,
“That’s sweet” I said.
“Alex told me about you during lunch, so you like Carmen huh? She’s a total knockout”
“Hi guys, Mr McAnda called in sick this morning so I’ll be taking this class just today. I know absolutely nothing about Chemistry but I do have notes here from Mr McAnda that I will write down for you shortly”
I looked up at hearing the voice, my pencil stopping. Carmen?
There was a grin playing on her lips when she spotted me and my brows furrowed.
Damn that lady.
“She’s quite nice from what I’ve heard and plus, she’s got the face and the body to top it off” Dani smiled.
I scoffed and Carmen began reading off the class list and all I did was watch her mouth talk when she spoke the names until it came to mine.
“Shane McCutcheon”
I was still staring at her lips with a shining layer of light…lip gloss? Well whatever the hell it was, it was looking damn good.
“Shane McCutcheon?”
The brunette beside me nudged me in the ribs before I realized the entire class was staring at me.
I tilted my head to the side towards Dani,
“What did I do?” I murmured.
“Just say you’re here” Alex’s girlfriend whispered back, mouth trying to stay closed.
Carmen raised a brow at me when I failed to say anything,
“Have you finished your daydream yet McCutcheon because if you haven’t noticed I’ve called your name twice” she said.
The embarrassment was getting to me, the fact that most people were staring back at me with a ‘is she retarded or what’ look.
Well, screw them and screw Carmen.
…That didn’t sound like such a bad idea actually, the latter, that is. But then-
“Shane, can you please step outside with me?” Carmen put her pen down softly and slid the door open and walked out, much like this morning.
I slid out of my chair and walk out of the room with Dani looking after me, giving me a reassuring look.
I stood up to the latina, hands shoved deep into my pocket like I didn’t give a damn about the world, and I didn’t.
“Shane, I know this is new to you and all but please pay attention. This is your last senior year before you go off, at least make it a good one ok? I don’t know if you have any problems whatsoever but you will be failing your classes if that continues” she said.
She didn’t sound smug like I thought she would, just a little concerned which I refused to be grateful of.
I didn’t need anyone’s pity.
“I’m fine” I almost spat.
I didn’t know why I was that angry but at that moment I didn’t really care. Despite being in a foul mood, my eyes had once again dropped to her chest and to her flat stomach.
I scowled and let my green orbs move back to her eyes when the look on her face told me she had caught me.
Again.
