Author's Note:
Hey Everyone,

Thank you so much for the wonderful support I've received on 'Believing In Love'. It hasn't been an easy story to write, but the comments and encouragement I've gotten made me press on. So, for that, I thank you.

I am in the process of writing the next installment to 'Enter Stage Right', which will be the next big story I work on to completion. I have another one in the works that someone asked me to write, and I am pretty sure I agreed, once I wrapped up 'Enter Stage Right'. This chapter, however, is part of a new series (surprise Superdaddy) called 'Lazy Afternoons'! This was something I ran past Jobadge not too long ago to ask for her blessing because it is very similar to her 'Situations', which is a must read if you have not.

'Lazy Afternoons' is basically a compilation of my thoughts inspired by everyday life. Hopefully, you'll find the series interesting and I'll post it as often as I can while writing 'Enter Stage Right'.

I must also take a moment to bow my head and say sorry! I forgot to include my little Proofie in my last author notes. There's not much I can say other than I'll grovel if needed, and to tell you that she's an amazing person that doesn't require a shout-out, but earns one each day with her example of strength and character! So, thanks and sorry!

I hope you enjoy!

When It Rains It Pours

Bette pulled into the driveway as the rain pelted her car unmercifully. Her wipers were on the highest setting possible, and yet she continued to struggle, as she had the entire ride home.

Her mood seemed to mimic the day, stormy and ornery, after her budget meeting with the other department heads turned into an all out fight. Bette waited in her car, hoping the storm would ease up, but instinctively knowing there was no end in sight. As her hand rested on the passenger seat, she leaned her head back closing her eyes, allowing her thoughts to travel back to the meeting fueling her anger once more.

"I need to expand my space," Bette argued. "Enrollment for my department is up which means more practical pieces need to be worked on. I don't have the room to accommodate the influx of students."

"It's a good problem to have," Phyllis dismissed Bette's concern easily.

"It's not a good problem to have when word travels that you can't provide adequate instruction."

"They're there because of your reputation," Phyllis said annoyed. "My hope has been realized. You've drawn an influx of students, but make do because we don't have the money to give you the building of your dreams right now."

The clap of thunder brought Bette's thoughts quickly out of the past as she silently reasoned with herself to make a run for the house despite her expensive suit. It had already been rain splattered more than once that day and she saw no reason to attempt to spare it further.

Bette quickly trotted through the rain and up to the front porch, shaking her damp hair, before she realized Tina's car was also in the driveway. She remembered Tina mentioning a location shoot, so her curiosity was peaked seeing Tina's car parked near the side of the house.

Bette opened the door quietly, relishing in the fact that it was early in the afternoon and she could spend the rest of a rainy day with Angelica and Tina. She stepped inside and shut the door, looking around the empty living room puzzled as to where Tina and Angelica were.

"Babe?" Bette called out, her voice met with silence.

She slipped off her heels as her hair began to curl up from the dampness. She heard mumblings coming from the bedroom and smiled, pleased that she had a clue to Tina's whereabouts. Bette made her way to the entranceway of the bedroom where the sight before her instantly brought a smile to her face.

Tina was lying on her back, arms at her side, as Angelica wore her play stethoscope around her neck. In one chubby hand she had the plastic thermometer, in the other, she held a shot.

"Does Mommy need a shot Baby?" Tina cooed as Angelica laughed and shook her head.

"Mama, dis make you beel better," Angelica said with a smile on her face.

Bette leaned against the door jam and folded her arms. The debate on funding was instantly forgotten, her dripping suit clinging to every curve a distant memory, the dampness of her hair not a concern anymore in Bette's world. Bette smiled as she remained undetected, able to witness the playful manner between Tina and their daughter.

"Does Mommy have a sore throat?" Tina opened her mouth as Angelica placed a plastic mirror, resembling one that would be used by a dentist, in Tina's mouth almost gagging her. "I think Mommy needs a shot to feel better."

Angelica pushed the plastic needle to Tina's arm as Tina grimaced, but then quickly hid her smile trying to play the part of the perfect patient.

"I think Mommy needs a kiss for her boo-boo."

Angelica squealed in delight as she bent down and kissed Tina's arm in the general area of where she had just placed the pretend shot.

"I think that can be arranged," Bette said smiling as Tina looked up surprised to see her there.

"Mama!" Angelica struggled to lower herself off the bed and run to Bette as she stood rooted to the spot where she had watched the tender scene unfold. "I missed you Mama, I missed you!"

Angelica stumbled toward Bette, falling forward, but directly into Bette's waiting arms as she swooped her up, turned her around, and kissed her face causing Angelica to squeal in delight.

"Mommy home and boo-boos." Angelica said quickly.

"Mommy has a boo-boo and you were fixing it up?" Bette nodded in agreement chuckling at the excitement Angelica was exuding.

Tina glanced over at the clock puzzled on why Bette was home so early. She stretched her arms up, placing them behind her head, getting comfortable to watch Bette and Angelica. She was barefoot, wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that had ridden up exposing the skin just above her bellybutton.

"What are you doing home so early?"
