"Just not too much. Remember if it gets too soggy you'll lose part of it in the milk."
"That's the best part though," Dana smiled watching the investment in cookie dunking lessons begin to pay off. "When you get to drink the milk that has just enough of a cookie taste in it to make it edible."
"Nothing is more disgusting than the floating pieces of cookie that never made it to their destination," Helena made a disgusted face as she continued to talk. "It's like a pool of backwash floating in that glass."
"Since when did they become the experts in cookie dunking?" Bette asked quietly as she held Tina in her arms.
"It's a right of passage," Tina explained. "They taught Angie to dunk her cookies."
"I thought I did that."
"I let you think that," Tina smiled. "I knew how much it meant to you."
"I'm a better dunker than that."
"Oh," Tina mocked her wife. "You're the best cookie dunker, but everyone has a role to play Babe so let our family do their part."
"You did it!" Kit jumped up and hugged Dana who also had risen on her feet. The two jumped up and down hugging one another in a fit of excitement.
Shane grabbed Sarah out of the boaster chair and twirled her around in her arms while the little girl laughed uncontrollably.
"You're the best cookie dunker ever!" Shane exclaimed.
"Hey!" Angelica decided now would be time for her to be heard. "You told me I was the best cookie dunker!"
"You've been dethroned," Kit said with a smile.
Bette looked over at Tina, standing in an embrace with her, and smiled as she watched Tina watching the events outside. Tina smiled back once she knew Bette was staring at her intently.
"What?" Tina snuggled into Bette's embrace also wrapping her arms around Bette's waist.
"We're so lucky," Bette laid her cheek against the top of Tina's head. "I can't believe the blessings we've been given."
"It's been a long road, that's for sure."
"I've never felt stronger though," Bette said as she smiled at Shane pushing Dana into the pool.
"I'm proud of you, it isn't easy to deal with hard things from the past."
"Not that it matters," Bette said kissing Tina's head. "But I think Melvin would be proud."
"I know he would, you're an amazing woman."
"I mean he'd be proud of us," Bette clarified. "Even if he didn't approve, he couldn't deny that we truly are an example of love and have an amazing family."
"Well this part of the example needs to get this place decorated in the next 30 minutes," Tina placed a playful kiss on Bette's neck before breaking the embrace and taking the streamers out of the shopping bag. "What was your plan for these?"
"My plan?" Bette looked away knowing that her beautiful mocha skin was beginning to redden with a blush.
"Give it up Porter, your Type A personality is shining through."
"I don't know what you mean," Bette struggled not to smile as she turned away from Tina and began to set up the plastic silverware and plates in the kitchen.
"God it's killing you!" Tina laughed. "Where is it?"
"Where's what?"
"The checklist that includes a detailed drawing of how you want this place decorated."
