Bette was already dressed very casually, choosing her outfit in case she has to go inside and work undercover. She was wearing a pair of a worn-out black jeans and an oversized white t-shirt that was constantly sliding down her right shoulder. She searched in her duffle bag and found George Washington University cap to cover her hair.
Bette walked into the bar that was already crowded enough for the agent to blend in easily. She ordered a drink and moved into a dark corner so she could observe the action inside without drawing too much attention to herself and especially trying to keep out of Tina’s sight.
The darkness and her position provided Bette with a perfect opportunity to watch without being conspicuous, though she was asked a few times by strangers if they could buy her a drink. Bette politely refused all the offers and continued watching Tina, who at the moment was walking towards the bar with her companion trailing behind.
They were holding hands but Bette recognized Tina’s body language because she often behaved the same way in the past. There was no intimacy in any of their gestures, caresses or movements. It was all about sex and any more or less attractive stranger would do.
‘I wonder what is it that she’s trying to escape,’ Bette thought and frowned, surprised at the concern she felt for Tina. She glanced in the direction of the blonde who just ordered another beer and saw her swaying her head to move hair away from her eyes. Bette found this move so sensual that she instantly felt heat rising from her center.
‘Damn…how can I be so aroused just by looking at her drinking beer or smiling…oh, what a smile…I wonder how it feels to be the one she smiles at,’ Bette thought again, not even trying to deny that Tina Kennard was affecting her so strongly, so fast.
Tina went back to the dance floor and Bette tried hard to restrain herself and not to follow her there. She moved slowly away from her safe corner, desperately in need of another drink. The floor was packed with women, dancing, kissing, touching and Bette was trying to squeeze through the crowd on her way to the bar.
Somehow she ended up right behind Tina and her companion as they were dancing to the rhythm of some techno song that Bette didn’t recognize. Tina’s eyes were closed and the agent lingered behind her for just a few seconds, admiring the curves and the moves of her body.
‘She smells so good,’ Bette thought absently, willing herself to move. She didn’t want to be that close to the subject because it wasn’t the time to make their acquaintance yet and she didn’t need a distraction while working. Bette pulled her cap lower to cover her face and finally reached the bar and ordered another beer as she continued watching Tina’s every move.
It was well after midnight when the blonde finally had enough and she left the bar with the same girl she had been dancing all night. They walked slowly along the street, Tina’s arm draped casually around her companion’s waist as they were quietly talking and laughing.
Bette relayed her instructions to Max, ordering him to stay behind as she followed them on foot, taking the other side of the street. Tina and her brunette-of-the-evening entered a small motel at the end of the street and Bette called for Max so they could wait in the car until the morning just in case for more activity. But from the look of it she doubted anything else would happen that would shed more light on Tina Kennard.
