Pretty Women, Episode 12
Dialing the number of her best friend, Tina Kennard allowed her upper body to fall back on the soft bed, and as the silk surrounded her, so did a warm, unfamiliair feeling...
Yes?
Shane’s voice sounded hoarse, making the blonde realize she had probably woken her... Feeling her heart jump up as the scent of Bette overwhelmed her, she couldn’t stop smiling.
Wakey wakey, it’s a beautifull day!
She playfully teased, and in her mindeye she could just see the shorthaired girl rub her face, trying to gain conciousness.
Tina? Where are you?
Hearing her friend getting up, her voice slightly worried, made Tina smile tenderly... She and Shane shared a true friendship that had started the first time they had ever laid eyes on eachother.
You’ll never guess... Yesterday? The Lotus?
A humming sound indicated that Shane had heard her. Tina felt the heat shot up to her cheeks...
It erm... It was a woman...
The blonde tried to talk fast, why was she suddenly so embarressed? And why did that warm feeling fill her so fully, as if she was about to rise to the biggest height she had ever risen too?
What?
The image of Bette letting down her hair in the car was stil ingraved in the pretty woman’s memory, and somehow she knew it would never leave...
I’m in her penthouse, her bathroom is bigger then the blue banana!
She could hear the smile creep on Shane’s face, and she couldn’t help the trembling of her hands when a swirling feeling overtook her stomach. The joke was just something she had to do to hide the intensity of her feelings, what was happening to her?
Are you for real?
Nodding Tina continued, her face still burning with blush:
She wants me to spend the week with her and guess what she’s gonn give me... Guess! You’ll never guess!
Shane now portrayed a full-on smile, her best friends enthousiasm was contagious, but there was something more... People didn’t call the skinny brunette ‘The Yoda’ for nothing... She had heard something in the blonde’s voice... Something had brought Tina back to life...
5000 dollars!
Shane shook her head, and felt how her eyes shot open at the amount Tina had just uttered.
Bullshit!
I swear to god! And extra money to buy clothes!
An uncomfortable feeling washed over the shorthaired girl, who knew that sometimes the blonde could be slightly naive.
Whats wrong with this woman? Ugly? Funny bussiness?
Tina felt her heart pound vividly at the thought of Bette, the gorgeous long curls, the delicate face, the deep dark eyes... She knew instantly what Shane was getting at, realizing she had sometimes had the tendency to look for the good in people... But those eyes were what made the difference, those soul-filled eyes that had touched her heart...
Nothing... She’s beautifull, she just doesnt want any romance this week...
The blonde woman winced. Why did that remark still hurt her? It wasn’t like she was looking for romance, was it? It was just her job...
Has she given you the money yet?
Tina bit her lip, smiling, hearing the playfull voice Shane always used when she teased her... She was so happy to have met the young woman when she’d just arrived to L.A. A soft feeling of genuin friendship filled her heart...
At the end of the week...
Thát’s whats wrong with her!
The blonde laughed, but feeling the jittery sensation in her body, and with a start the realization that had everything to do with the fact that she was discussing Bette, scared her more then slightly, causing her to quickly change the subject.
Well, she has given me 400 dollars for last night, and Shane? Would you pay my rent and send the rest to Jamey for me?I’d leave it at the desk for you...
The young mothers voice broke at the mention of her son, missing him dearly she just held onto the fact that she needed the money for him... The jobs she had had, waitressing, parking cars, none of which would pay for what he needed. She loved him more than anything, and resented herself for having to leave him with her mother, allthough she knew he would get a different treatment then she herself had had.
Off course... No problem.
Pushing the thoughts of her mother to the back of her head, Tina inhaled sharply, and after she had told Shane at which hotel she was staying there was just one more question she needed to ask:
Where do I go for the clothes?
Shane smiled knowingly, she hadn’t been able to shake the feeling off of her that this was something major... Something good...
In Beverly Hills? Rodeo drive, baby!

Bright sunlight lit the huge central hall of the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, as Tina did her best not to look intimidated when she made her way over to the desk.
Handing the small envelope to the woman behind the desk, the pounding of her heart somewhat subsided as she heard the confidence in her voice
I’m leaving this for Shane McCutcheon, she will pick it up later.
