Author's Note: Some season one viewing led from one thing to another, and my ADD kicked in, and thus you have another story from me to pass your time with. I'm sorry.

No, it's not a "beginning" story, but it is B&T, and at the early stages, back when they still made sense.

I really miss Dana.

Read. Enjoy. Comment.

Alice watched Dana study her menu with complete seriousness, giving her full attention to the list of food items on the laminated sheet of paper. She smiled to herself, and for the nth time, thought of how cute the tennis player was. She was so neurotic, Alice found her oddly endearing. Almost adorable. Like you just wanted to take hold of the tennis player and hug her tightly. If she weren't so damn neurotic about being gay, she could be someone Alice could seriously imagine being sexually attractive.

But Dana was. And so Alice didn't.

And speaking of sexually attractive...

"Porter! Hey!" Alice waved enthusiastically to her friend and ex-girlfriend, catching sight of Bette Porter at the counter of The Planet.

Dana looked up quickly, turning, before resuming her study of the menu. Why did all the healthy food not taste as good as the ones with millions of calories?

Bette casually sauntered up to the table, placing her tray on it and taking a seat. "Hey, Al. Dana."

"Hi, Bette." Dana squeaked. Even though she had officially been initiated as a member of their group of friends, she still felt a semblance of hero worship in the presence of Bette Porter. The gallery owner was just so... everything, that Dana felt inferior to her on so many levels.

Alice studied Bette. "Flying solo today?"

Bette ignored her, picking up her cup of coffee.

"Where's Straight Girl?" Alice asked.

"Don't know." Was Bette's simple reply.

"Really? 'Cause you two are just inseparable lately. I mean, for you wake up to drive to her place just to pick her up and bring her here for coffee." Alice shrugged. "If that's not radical behavior for you, I don't know what is."

Bette lowered her coffee cup, and turned to level Alice with a glare. "Are you done?"

Alice immediately backed down from her interrogation, except she saw something in Bette's eyes that made her press the issue further. "You didn't."

"Al, drop it."

"What happened?" Dana asked, turning from the reporter to the gallery owner, and back. "What happened?"

"Nothing." Bette said shortly, glaring at Alice.

"Bette, did something happen between you and Tina?" Alice asked.

Dana stared at Bette. "Something happened between you and Tina?"

"No. Nothing happened." Bette snapped. "We're on a break."

"Is that even possible?" Alice inquired.

"Fine, Al: I'm not seeing her anymore."

Alice frowned. "What, was her hotness quotient not translate to her bedroom skills?"

"Alice, I swear to God you better shut up, or I will shut it for you." Bette threatened.

Alice raised her hands in surrender. "Can't you at least tell me what's going on?"

"Fine." Bette barked at her. "I told her that if we were going to continue seeing each other, she had to at least introduce me to her friends. That was a week ago."

"Have you called her during this week?" Dana wondered.

"Nah, Porter here never calls." Alice threw Bette a pointed look. "Don't you?"

"Six weeks, Al." Bette reminded.

"So, what, just like that?" Dana asked. "I thought you really liked her."

"See, Dane, Porter here comes with a two-month limit. If she doesn't get you in the sack by that time, you're not worth her time." Alice explained to her friend. She paused, and turned to Bette. "So you haven't even gotten her in the sack in the whole month you've been dating?"

"I'm not talking about it." Bette reiterated, turning back to her coffee.

"No, wait." Alice shook her head. "Bette, this is big. You can't just give Blondie McHottie a taste of the Porter pie just to take it back and decide it's all over. It's not fair."

"Fair?" Bette repeated, drawing her attention away from her espresso. "I'm not the one who flirted endlessly, went on a few 'trial dates', and wouldn't even tell my closest friends about this relationship I'm in. No. That was her."

"Relationship." Alice stressed to Dana in a whisper.

"So I'm getting out of that." Bette declared, sitting back. "I'm going to sit here and enjoy my breakfast and I'm not going to think about her again."

"Okay," Dana mumbled.

"If you say so.
