Bette woke up feeling better than she had in weeks. No hangover, just a hopeful feeling for the future; for their future. Last night had gone pretty well. Maybe she hadnt destroyed everything. They had a long road to travel, but maybe, just maybe, they could travel it together. Bette hopped up to get a hot shower and then call Tina.
Tina on the other hand, woke up with a pounding headache. She had felt pretty good about how the night had gone, but when Alice had brought her home and started the questions about how things had gone with Bette, Tina had gotten edgy. She didnt want to talk about it yet. At least not with Alice. She was not sure how she felt at this time. Could they get their lives back? Could they work through the problems? Was that really what she wanted? What she really needed was time to talk with Bette. But the more she thought about talking over the problems with Bette, the worse she felt. How could Bette had done this to her? To them? Exhausted and tired of thinking, Tina had a couple of shots, stumbled in to bed and just crashed. The drinks had numbed her mind and allowed her to sleep, but now she was paying for them. Enough of that! Tina thought. Time to get moving!
About an hour later, Tina was starting to feel more human. She had taken a very hot shower, popped a couple of aspirin and had some orange juice. Although her stomach rebelled at the thought of food, she knew she would feel better if she just ate something. She had made some toast. As Tina munched on her toast, she read the note Alice had left for her, saying she would be at Danas house. Tina had some time to herself to reflect on last nights events and in what direction she wanted to take Bettes and her relationship. For there would be a relationship! But what kind? That is what Tina needed to figure out.
As Tina sat deep in thought, the ringing phone pulled her out of musings. Shit! she thought as she glanced at the caller id. Bette! Was she ready to talk with her?
Baby? Are you there? Please....please pick up the phone.
Tina answered, Yes Bette, Im here.
Good Morning Sweetie. How are you this morning?
More like this afternoon. I slept late and woke up with a headache. Its better now though. Did you sleep last night?
Like a log.
