Bette joins in a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder group. There they voluntarily talk about their traumatic events, after listening to some of the other even worst events, Bette feel sorry for the others and silently thankful for Tina who she has been so luckily to have found after her traumatic accident.
“What is the worst aspect of the event? What is your reaction to it?”
“Not being able to take control of the wheel anymore and losing my sight... I feel helpless when I’m not in control of something, I might as well give up and let go.” She gave up her life during the accident, but when she’d survived but lost her sight, she almost let go of Tina as well.
“What were your thoughts when you were in that event… share it with us… Bette?”
The accident flash through her mind, she close her eyes and wince in pain for a little while recalling the accident… “Great pain coursing through my body… my life started to flash through my mind… I knew I had nothing left in my life and couldn’t do anything about that accident anymore… I let go… and gave up… embracing death.”
Bette lifts up her head to look at the others in the group who still looking expectantly at her to continue her talk. Right then, a certain angelic blonde pop up in her mind, smiling beautifully and lovingly at her, Bette feel warm blood rushing through her heart, warm her up inside out… “Now I’ve found the most important thing in life, my true love… I’ll not give up and let go of my life or her easily anymore…”
At the doctor’s… Bette and Tina with Doctor Moore…
Doctor Moore: “Bette… you’ve encountered death… but you’ve live and found Tina… Death can tear us apart… there’s nothing we can do to stop death… But since we’re still living and breathing… we must live everyday to the fullest… be here now, don’t be threatened by the past, embrace the moment you have now and be ready for the future.”
“Take one small step at a time… don’t be afraid of death… if all of us are afraid of death, then nobody will be living at all… and what is the point of living and working and loving the ones you love?”
Then she continues while Bette and Tina trying to absorb what has been just spoken by Doctor Moore, “You live, you enjoy, you feel, you love…”
“We live everyday as a fighter! We must live our life to the most meaningful… we’re not born to wait to die without getting some experiences and memories into our lives… Cycle of life - born- live- dead. A plain white paper will not filled with colours if you don’t paint it… don’t let the paper gone all dull and black before it had once been colourful…”
“Both of you couldn’t get to another intimate level is because, Bette, you’re so afraid of losing Tina, and Tina, you’re worried about your family… about your newly discovered sexuality.”
“So Bette, you have to let go of the memories of your mom walking out on you… sought a tiny place in your heart to forgive and forgo her… now look at Tina who’s here, love you, taking very good care of you… try to let her in…”
“Tina, you have to try to be comfortable in your own skin, of course you couldn’t be expecting the same reaction from everyone. You must be comfortable with yourself and Bette before you can convince the others that this is not just a phase and that indeed you really love Bette.”
“The two of you have sought each other at the most bumpy ride on this journey… and look at how you two have helped each other out and worked side by side to go through the pains and the hardest part, you’ve survived the ride with each other… Tina, you’ve helped Bette gone through her recovery when she was hospitalized after her accident, there’re really a fair amount of studies showing that people will recover faster if they’re in their positive state of emotions… and Bette, you’ve filled in Tina’s void of her life, you’ve coloured her life and shower her with love and happiness.”
“Open up and share all your ups and downs… you two have a great connection that you’re not really aware of it…”
Tina look at Bette with love and gratitude, grabbing both of her hands, she gives them a generous squeeze… wanting to lean down to kiss her while at the same time the tears are threatening to fall.
“Do something to help those in need in life… do something to show your love and affections to each other… do something to tell or show your friends and family that you love them and value them… open up your heart, let the love and happiness flow into your heart.”
“Happiness is not a permanent state but rather, it’s a moment… then two… and more… if you let them.”
