Tina and Angelica sat together at a quiet corner of The Planet, Tina idly reading a script while Angelica drank another Kit-sponsored milkshake.

Several feet away, Alice, Helena, Lara and Shane all watched the mother-daughter tandem.

And this was how Bette found her friends. "What are you doing?"

"Sshhhh, we want to see how Angelica's gonna get her mom's reaction," Alice shushed, which got Bette's attention.

"Why?" Bette asked.

"When Angelica she gets bored she tosses something at her mom," Shane told her. "Five minutes ago Tina took Angelica's toys."

Bette lifted an eyebrow, and joined in on the viewing. "So, how long have they been here?"

"Since five." Lara supplied.

"Why aren't you sitting with them?" Bette asked.

"Bette, when was the last time you saw TK spend even ten minutes with any of us? Peabody excluded." Alice reminded. "And, whoops, sorry about leaving Angelica to Kit yesterday. Helena and I had a show to see."

Bette shrugged. "You're going to be stripped off that earth mother role, you know."

"Aww, why?" Alice whined. "Remember, I'm the cool aunt!"

"No, that's Shane." Bette reminded.

"You know, TK was a whole lot more understanding. You just like to antagonize me." Alice muttered. "And for that, you suck."

"Hey, Bette, rumor has it you and Tina had dinner here last night," Helena said, interrupting, earning her a death glare from Bette and surprise from the other two. Lara remained silent.

Not if Alice could help it. She turned to Lara. "You didn't tell me that!"

"How am I supposed to know what I should and shouldn't tell you?" Lara retorted. "You're the ultimate source of all information."

"Well," Alice actually seemed flustered at this. "Yes, but..."

"Oh, and I saw Gabby Deveaux last night." Bette said.

Shane huffed. "Why isn't she banned from here?"

"That's what I thought, too." Bette laughed. "I'll make sure to pass that on to Kit."

"What did Gabby want?" Alice asked irritably. She glanced at Lara. "Look grumpy, that's how all us Gabby throwaways should react to her name."

"I broke up with her." Lara told her.

Alice turned to her. "What?"

"She's manipulative and stifling." Lara said. "You should've heard the phonecalls asking for another chance, it was stupid."

"What?" Alice demanded. "That's not how Gabby works!"

Sensing the escalation of the Gabby discussion, Helena pointed back to the Kennard table. "Angelica's moving."

Angelica stopped drinking the shake, and glanced at her mother. She glanced around.

"Baby Kennard-Porter uses all her year-old resources to gather her mother's attention. Meanwhile, her mother is completely oblivious to her daughter's demand for attention." Alice said, imitating a commentator, Gabby Deveaux forgotten.

"Doesn't Angelica talk?" Lara asked.

"Yes, but where's the fun in that?" Helena asked.

It's official, Bette decided: Helena was spending too much time with Alice.

Angelica frowned, finding nothing to throw at her mother. She glanced down at her cup of milkshake, then back at her mother.

Bette's eyes widened as she saw the wheels in her daughter's mind working, and decided to save Tina from a dry cleaning disaster. She left Alice and company, ignoring the moans of disappointment that followed, and approached the other table. "Hi, T."

Angelica looked up, and brightened, abandoning her previous plan for her other mother. "Mama!"

Oh, she'll never get tired of that. Bette grinned broadly, coming up to Angelica and picking her up from the high chair. "Hello, my little girl."

Angelica immediately warmed to her mother's embrace. She pulled back, and began chatting away.

"You should've heard her when she realized she slept before saying goodnight to you." Tina told her, watching the two.

Bette smiled, and took a nearby seat, still holding Angelica. She started to turn to Tina, but Angelica grabbed her head and forced her to look back at her, causing both her mothers to laugh.

Bette nodded at Angelica's dissertation, whatever it was. Evidently, Angelica had inherited her ranting streak.

Tina watched them for a moment, smiling faintly. Parent and child who resembled each other so much. Sometimes she resented herself for having been tempted to break them apart. Although she'd always meant to follow through on the adoption, as she watched them she always knew those two belonged together.

After all, where else would Angelica get the talkative streak, the pout, the wide-eyed Porter routine?

It had taken a lot of negotiation -- and some Peabody string pulling -- to get a new social worker, one infinitely more sympathetic to their cause, to get the adoption finalized two months ago. People questioned why she would follow through on the adoption when she and Bette were separated, but for her that was never up for debate. When she told Bette a year ago that Angelica was their baby, she'd meant it.
