You seem detached. GeezI'm sounding like a woman!"
TINA- "What does THAT mean?"
HENRY- (He smiles at her) "Listen to metalking about feelings. See Tina, you've done a number on me!"
TINA- "Oh, I have all that power do I?"
HENRY- "And much more, beautiful lady"
TINA- "I'm sorryI just don't know what to tell you and I don't even know what I'm feeling let alone what I'm thinking these days. You've been patient. Thank you."
HENRY- "I don't know what you're going through, but I know you need to work it out. I wish I knew what to say or do to help you."
TINA- "Henry, I wish I knew myself. I think I need to spend some time with Angelicajust me and her."
HENRY- (He looks down and then back up to her. He smiles, in a sad kind of way, reaches up to her face to touch it and then kisses her gently. She really had seemed far off somewhere and not quite 'with' him when they were together. She seemed to him to be almost as unsettled as Angelica. He wasn't sure what to do.) "Ok. Listen, I'm going to go now. I'm going to head to my place to shower and change and get myself to work. I hate these Saturday morning meetings. Anyway, I'll call you laterwell, tomorrowok? Maybe we'll have dinner."
TINA- "Ok. We'll see. Bye." (He stands upright and leaves the room. Tina almost doesn't skip a beat. She reverts her focus onto Angelica.) "Just you and me kiddo, just you and me."
(After a while, Henry leaves and Tina puts Angelica back to sleep, but Angelica wakes up a little while later. She seemed quiet though, not agitated. Tina wandered to the window in the bedroom. She stood there, looking out. After much thought, or rather blank and mindless stares that carried no more meaningful thoughts than her earlier stares into the dark bedroom's space, she brought her hand to her forehead and then ran the fingers of both hands through her hair. She turned suddenly and looked at Angelica. It was about 7:00 am at this point. She stared at her for a bit and then walked over slowly. She stroked her head as Angelica smiled and cooed. She got dressed and dressed Angelica, had a quick coffee and bite to eat. Then Tina went out to the car, buckled Angelica into her car seat and started driving. After a while, she turned onto a familiar street and slowed as she approached the quaint house across the way. She stopped the car and looked out the window at the house and then she looked where the Saab ought to have been. She felt goose bumps and a sinking feeling in her chest. Tina looked forward and bowed her head. She shook her head and then was almost surprised to see that her heart had made an unscheduled appearancethe tears welling up in her eyes gave it away. She didn't come here to do anything, say anything, or talk to anyone. She just wanted to seeto look upon that place, to look and know that the occupant of that once wonderful home was inside. For some reason, this mysterious desire was inside her as she left her house to come here. She didn't know why, it just was. But there she sat, realizing the occupant and her Saab were awayand at this time of the day, they must have been somewhere else through the night, she thought to herself. Tina regains her composure, looks up and stares ahead. She starts the car and heads off. A few minutes later, the Saab pulls up. Shane gets out and heads into her house to sleep off the last night's escapades. It was a warm morning that day in Los Angeles. The pollution had created the usual haze and clouded atmospherea heaviness had hovered in the atmosphere, and driving in the early morning light through this Saturday morning air, an even heavier heart consumed Tina and clouded her every thought, feeling and movement.)
(Back in the Big Apple, Bette was wrestling with a blanket, a pillow, and her uncertain surroundingstossing, turning, and then waking 'where the hec am I,' she thought for a moment. And then her question was answered, and the answer was a rude as the awakening)
LILY- (Standing not far from her living room couch where Bette lay, her eyes smiling and her hands on her waist and then outstretched into the air) "But soft, what light through yonder window breaks! Arise fair sun and kill the envious moon! God you're gorgeous!" (Bette is totally speechless and freaked out.) "Easy does ityou're not having a nightmare and I'm not the angel of death, or the lunatic escaped from the bowels of Manhattan to find you here in our fair Brooklyn."
BETTE- "Oh my God, are you still drunk?"
LILY- (Playfully but matter of fact) "No, I take hallucinogensalcohol isn't enough for this brilliant mind." (She points to her head. Bette shakes her head. Lily smiles.) "Oh Elizabeth my dear, relax. I'm not a morning person, so my creative mind tries hard to soften the effects. Don't be afraidbut you're not in Kansas anymore!"
BETTE- "You're the second person to tell me that since I got to New York."
LILY- "Well, it must be that west coast look pervading your face. You west coast peoplethat lookit gives me the heebeegeebees. So relaxed and holier than thou. But don't you look perplexed this morning!"
BETTE- "Excuse me?"
LILY- "And you only had a few drinks. What if we had really had some fun?"
BETTE- "Oh nodiddid we?"
LILY- (Indignantbut jokingly) "Lost your sense of reality have you? You're on the couchhas that not occurred to you? Besides, my brother would kill me, or worse, he'd disown me. He's the only family I have left in the world, so you know what that would do to me. Anyway, I'm insulted you would think such a thing."
BETTE- (Jokingly) "I thought you said I'm gorgeous."
LILY- "Mmmmmm."
BETTE- "So, it's within the realm of possibility"
LILY- "No."
BETTE- "No?"
LILY- "You're not my type. Now that cellist! Mmmmm."
BETTE- "Oh, I see."
LILY- (A little overdramaticwith her wild hair flinging in the air) "And you, dear Elizabeth? Was it difficult to keep your hands off me all that time?"
BETTE- (Sarcastic) "Right. Why are you calling me Elizabeth?"
LILY- "Because I love the sound of my real name." (Bette chuckles.) "Rise and shine Madam Porter.
