LILY-  (Calling out and approaching, arms outstretched when he turned)  "Justin!"  (Justin turns, and a second later, so does Bette.  Lily and Justin embrace.  Lily is a striking figure of a woman, intense, wild-eyed and with much presence and energy.  She is a handful, witty, and irreverent as well kind and good-natured.  Lilly was jovial, though moody at times, and had what seemed like a million thoughts going through her mind when she spoke.  She loved to perform, even in a small group.  She sometimes changed tones and subjects like Robin Williams performed his comedic repertoire.  Maybe she was just a little madbut she was as possessed by a huge heart as she was plagued by her enormous talent and intensity.  After they break from their hug, Justin takes Lily by the hand and motions her toward Bette.)  "I'm very pleased to introduce Bette Porter, our new director.  Bette, this is my sister, Elizabeth Morneau."

BETTE-  (A bit taken abackit's the conductor)  "Pleasure to meet you.  That was a wonderful performance."

LILY-  "Oh my goodness, Justin, you didn't tell meBette Porter?  Ms. Porter it's a great pleasure to meet you again.  You won't remember me, but when I was performing in Los Angeles I was invited to an interesting exhibition of some very strange but thought provoking art- it was called 'Provocations' I believe."  (She shakes her hand enthusiastically.)

BETTE-  (Her stomach sinks at the sound of that word, but she is carrying on as though she barely heard it.)  "Well, yes, small world isn't it.  I'm sorry I don't remember you, but I certainly hope you enjoyed the opening."

LILY-  "Yes, I did very much.  And you must have met innumerable people that evening.  I was struck by you- you handled yourself with such grace.  I met your partner as well.  She was so pleasant, and when my conversation with you was interrupted by other guests, she took it upon herself to introduce me to a couple of people."  (Bette's heart now sinks lower than her stomach, her throat all but dried up, and were it not for her deep seeded fortitude called upon in times like this, she would have surely fainted or broke out into tears.  Her pain was still quite sensitive and not far from the surface, somewhat to her surprise.  She swallowed and refocused, feeling like she had to remove a spear from her gut and continue.  At almost the same time, Justin's eyes opened and he glared at Lily with brotherly messages invisibly transmitting to his sister's eyes, hoping she'd understand to cease discussion of the 'partner', whom Justin knew and had heard was an element of a now painful yet recent past.)

BETTE-  "Yes, well, it was quite an evening.  I'm sorry to have forgotten you in any event, but I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to attend tonight, thanks to Justin here.  The performance was absolutely breathtaking."

LILY-  (She notices her brother's eyesand quickly looks back at Bette)  "And what did you think of Elgar's concerto?  Isn't that cellist fabulous?"

BETTE-  "Yes, she certainly is."

LILY-  "Every time we do that performance I think I'm going to keel over in orgasmic excitement."  (Bette chuckles nervously, not knowing what to think and Justin intercedes)

JUSTIN-  "Well, Elizabeth, I'm glad you manage to hold backthat would be an odd site!"  (Lily laughs.)  "Now, how about we go for drinks.  Can you join us?"

LILY-  "Well yes, yes of course.  I'll just be a few moments."  (She goes off to get ready.)

JUSTIN-  "II hope thatwell, she's gregarious."

BETTE-  "Yes, she is.  Don't worry, I think she's great.  And I'm fine."  (She taps him on the upper arm.)  "You said 'Elizabeth'where's the 'Lily' from?"

JUSTIN-  "Well, when she was young, her Majesty the Queen was called 'Lillibet'.  My parents took a liking to that and that's how our Elizabeth became Lillibet and then, very soon after, when that didn't quite seem to fit, we went on to 'Lily' and that stuck.  Elizabeth is a beautiful name though.  You're lucky!"

BETTE-  "Yes, thanks.  I'm so glad I didn't end up with Betty or LizzyI can't see either of those fitting me."

JUSTIN-  (Turning to see Lily approach and turning back to Bette)  "Here she comes."

LILY-  "Welltake me to my fatewine, women and song Mr. Morneau!"

JUSTIN-  "How about some wine, spririts andyou can take a detour on your own for the rest of that?"

LILY-  "You mean if I start singing and hitting on the ladies you'll make a run for it?"

JUSTIN-  "You will never see anyone run faster."

LILY-  "But Justin my brother, it could do you some good.  We'll find you a lively one!"

JUSTIN-  "My mistress is the museum"

LILY-  "Eeewwwthat's pathetic my brother!"

JUSTIN-  (Half jokingly)  "Well, at least it's a little more respectable than 'orgasmic excitement' exploding over a cello"

LILY-  "Over the cellist, the cellist my good man, not the cello!"

JUSTIN-  "Why do I have a feeling that when she doesn't play the cello you don't quite notice her in the same way?"

LILY-  "Now I'm not THAT affected!"

JUSTIN-  (Turning to Bette and jokingly)  "Actually don't listen to hershe really is madmad mad mad I tell you!  The crazy maestro..."

LILY-  (Also jokingly)  "Justin you twit, you're scaring my new friend Bette."  (They all laugh.)

BETTE-  "Not to worry, I don't scare so easily."

LILY-  "Thank goodness, because I thought I had lost you already!  Bette, I must get something out of the way"  (Bette looks at her and nods)  "you are exquisite.  A most beautiful woman, I must say."

JUSTIN-  "Ok Casanova, let's tone it down shall we?"

BETTE-  (Smiling and poking fun) "It's ok Justin, she is not inaccurate after all!  Thank you Lily.  That's kind of you to say.  You, by the way, have amazing stage presenceamazing presence in general."

LILY-  (Quite seriously, yet humbly)   "Yes, I know.  I've always had that and I've always been told that.  But Justin here just thinks I'm obnoxious!"

JUSTIN-  "Now now, I never said that.  Well, ostentatious perhapsI remember saying thatbut not obnoxious."

LILY-  "Gee, thanks Justin!"  (Turning to Bette)  "Don't mind him, he's far too sheltered."

BETTE-  (Jokingly)  "Oh I don't know about thathave you seen his 'kingdom'?"

LILY-  "Has he been showing off his eclectic boudoir again?"

JUSTIN-  "Lily!!!"  (Bette's a bit shocked.)

LILY-  (To Justin)  "No?"  (To Bette)  "Oh yes, I forgotyou're a Sapphist!"

JUSTIN-  "LILY please!"
