Unfortunately if you are even reading this letter something has gone wrong.  Shane kept this for me with the promise that the only way you were ever to find out about the baby was if something happened that would prevent me from taking care of her.  My lawyer has all the paperwork granting you guardianship over her.  Please don't be angry with the girl's for not telling you they were only doing what I asked of them.

            Bette - I love you with every fiber of my being and I always will.  I'm just so sorry that you stopped wanting me and loving me.  I am sorry that Candace was able to fill the void that I obviously couldn't.

            I love you my darling and I know that you will love our child.  Try not to see me when you look at her, see only yourself and realize that I loved you enough to do this alone.  I thought that by having her with me I would always have a part of you with me.

            As Bette finished the letter her sobbing was now coming from the very depths of her soul.  Shane and Dana were also now both in tears.  "But you said that she was alive" said Bette weakly.  "She is alive" said Shane forcefully.  It's just that she has gone into labor 3 weeks early and is having some problems with the delivery.  Alice is already with her at the hospital and it was hard enough for you to not know about the pregnancy that we decided that we could not live with ourselves if something happened to either one of them" said Shane softly.
