supportEmptyParas]--> “I just want her to be sure, I don’t want to feel like I’m pushing her into something she’s not ready for,” Bette’s voice was assuredly calm as she explained her reasoning to Alice.
“Okay, Bette what straight girl do you think is going to make the first move,” Alice asked. “’Cause if that’s what you’re waiting for, you’re going to be waiting a hell of a long time.”
“Well, what do you suggest I do, then?” Bette queried.
“I think you should bring her out to meet everyone,” Alice suggested. “Nothing too pressure filled, maybe afternoon coffee to start with. That way it will be an early start for you and you’ll have an excuse to spend a big part of the day together.”
“That actually does sound like a good idea,” Bette agreed.
“What is this, the fucking twilight zone?” Alice laughed at her own joke as she continued. “Why are you coming to me for dating advice. Jeez, Bette, this girl really has thrown you for a loop, hasn’t she?”
Bette sighed. “It’s just that I really like her Alice. I don’t want to fuck it up.”
“Do you want to come out with us tonight?” Alice asked. “We’re heading out to the bar in about an hour if you’re interested.”
“No, Al, thanks for the invitation. I think I’ll pass tonight, though” Bette responded.
“Don’t dwell on it Bette, she obviously likes you or she wouldn’t keep going out with you.”
